Southern-Style Baked Beans with Bacon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the mixture
    In a large bowl, combine:

    • Pork and beans
    • Ketchup
    • BBQ sauce
    • Brown sugar
    • Mustard
    • Worcestershire sauce
    • Liquid smoke (if using)
    • Garlic powder
    • Pepper

Mix everything well until fully combined.

  3. Transfer to baking dish
Pour the mixture into a baking dish and spread evenly.
  4. Add the bacon
Lay the bacon slices across the top of the beans (you can leave them whole or cut them in half).
  5. Bake
Bake uncovered for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until:
    • The sauce is bubbling
    • The bacon is cooked and slightly crispy
  6. Optional crisping
If you want crispier bacon, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end (watch carefully so it doesn’t burn).

Serve

Let it cool slightly before serving. Great as a side dish for BBQ, grilled meats, or potlucks.
